TMAO is TriMethylAmineOxide. It seems to be an important methyl donor, therefore it involves oxidation / reduction metabolism of the body. It is created by the liver through the oxidation of TMA – TriMethylAmine. TMA is created by intestinal bacteria. And intestinal bacteria create TMA from 2 main precursors: choline and carnitine. These are key parts of omnivorous diets, especially the animal part of an omnivorous diet.
This is the historical article of the New England Journal of Medicine 2013.
He demonstrated that: the levels of TMAO in the blood come clearly from the dietary hill. It also showed that people with high levels of TMAO have much higher rates of heart attack and stroke.
Why, then, would someone ignore this? Obviously, the non-vegan community has done just that: ignored it. Or is there something else? Yes. It has to do with kidney function. There is confusion in these studies. It has to do with kidney function. It seems that the TMAO is eliminated fast enough to not cause harm in people with normal renal function. With inadequate renal function, it is not. That, supposing it is true, explains some things. But it leads to a new set of questions and problems.

About Dr. Brewer: Dr. Brewer started as an emergency doctor. There were too many patients who arrived dead from early heart attacks (or, worse, permanently incapacitated by stroke). He went to Johns Hopkins to learn preventive medicine. He loved it, he succeeded and ended up executing the postgraduate training program. From there, he made a career in the practice and management of preventive medicine and primary care clinics. A recent role in this area was the Chief Medical Officer of Premise, which has about 1,000 primary care / prevention clinics. He was also the Medical Director of MDLIVE, the second largest telemedicine company. More recently, he founded PrevMed, a clinic for the prevention of heart attacks, strokes and diabetes, the main program for the prevention of heart attacks and heart attacks by telemedicine.
At PrevMed, we focus on the prevention of: heart attack, stroke, disability, cancer and Alzheimer's. We found a lot of undiagnosed prediabetes or insulin resistance. The treatment of unrecognized risk factors such as prediabetes allows the reduction of risk and the prevention of diseases. We offer state-of-the-art genetic tests, images, laboratories and telemedicine options. We treat patients who have already experienced an event (a heart attack, a stroke, etc.). And we serve those who have not developed a diagnosis or event. We also provide preventive medicine through telemedicine technology to more than 35 states.
