Best Foods for Diabetes | Including Complex Carbohydrates & Fiber Rich Foods

Diabetes

Diabetes is a condition in which a person has high blood sugar. The sugar level increases when the body is unable to produce enough insulin or when it becomes resistant to its effect. The former is known as type 1 diabetes and the latter as type 2 diabetes.

Eating groups that consume in diabetes:

1. Complex carbohydrates and fiber: They take more time to digest and therefore do not cause any sudden increase in blood sugar level

Foods to consume: oats, millet like sorghum, millet and pearl millet; (jowar, ragi, bajra), wheat bran, quinoa, sprouts, legumes and nuts such as almonds, walnuts and peanuts

2. Raw vegetables

Foods to eat: broccoli, tomatoes, carrots, peppers, onions, etc., and fruits like apples, pears, oranges, papayas

Recipes based on previous food groups:

Recipe 1: Salad of sprouts

1. Soak about 25 grams of gram of green (moong) overnight.
2. The next morning you will notice that the grams have become
thicker
3. Tie them in a muslin cloth and keep in a casserole
4. The grams will sprout completely in 1-2 days
5. Chop ½ a tomato
6. Also chop ½ a cucumber
7. Mix with the sprouted green germ
8. Add 1 teaspoon lemon juice
9. Also, add a little salt, pepper to taste
10. Mix gently and serve

Recipe 2: Veg stir fry

1. Heat 1 teaspoon of oil in a skillet
2. Add ½ teaspoon garlic paste and ginger
3. Add ½ chopped onion and sauté until lightly
Brown
4. Now add 3-4 small broccoli florets
5. Also add ½ chopped red and green peppers each
6. Now, add ½ cup of water to all these vegetables
7. Cover the pan with a lid and let them cook for
5-6 minutes
8. Now add 1 teaspoon chili and 1 teaspoon oregano
9. Also add salt to taste
10. Sauté this mixture for 5-8 minutes before serving
