What Causes Diabetes ?

In this video I explain what causes diabetes (Type 2). It is important to understand first what causes this to prepare us to begin making lifestyle changes to prevent or begin efforts to reverse diabetes. (In my next videos I will clarify several myths about diabetes and also explain if diabetes is reversible, what are the ways we can look to reverse diabetes?)
Type 2 diabetes in 90% of cases is caused
By RESISTANCE TO INSULIN

The causes of insulin resistance are
1) Overweight and obesity
2) processed refined carbohydrates and high sugar diet
3) Chronic stress
4) Small% of cases are due to hereditary and genetic factors

Example: When we continue to eat a diet of highly processed carbohydrates, the secretion of insulin increases from the pancreas to control the levels of sugar in the blood.
More refined carbohydrates: more sugar in the blood, more insulin -Hyperinsulinemia (excess insulin).
More Hyperinsulinemia over a period of time leads to insulin resistance.
Insulin resistance leads to the metabolic syndrome which in turn leads to MORE WEIGHT AND OBESITY.
If the insulin resistance / metabolic syndrome / obesity persists for 5 to 10 years, it can lead to DIABETES.

Just as we get resistance to antibiotics due to the frequent use of antibiotics, the body develops insulin resistance due to frequent insulin spikes due to a diet high in sugar or carbohydrates.
SO DIABETIES IS BASICALLY A SUGAR DISEASE.

If we can reduce insulin resistance, diabetes can be reversible in many cases.
I will explain this in my next videos.
