Hey guys, Thomas here today with Six Pack shortcuts. Today I am here to go through one of the most discussed topics in fitness: protein powder.
News flash guy … protein powders are not important just because of their protein content. Every time we consume protein, it causes a peak in our insulin levels – this is called insulinogenic. This reaction opens our cells to be more receptive to the nutrients of the protein you are taking in … Let's decompose the best forms of protein powder to continue building lean muscle and getting it closer to your abs six pack.
My most favorite type of protein powder hands down is protein whey protein isolate fed. When you notice the words "Protein Isolate" on the label, that means protein has been separated from all unnecessary junk in the whey so the protein being absorbed is much purer. Any "grass fed" protein means that whey is being derived from naturally fed, non-grain fed cattle that will pass the good nutrients from your diet to the protein you will be taking.
Second to whey protein fed grass is pea protein. Pea protein is good for your digestive system and is somewhat different so that you can change your protein intake so that your body does not get too accustomed to the same sources of nutrients.
The third best form of protein powder is not even the powder … It's the meat. You can not supplement protein from whole foods in your diet. I recommend options like organic chicken breast or fish caught sustainably like cod.
A word of caution at all … Stay away from casein protein. Casein is slowly digested overnight and because it causes excess production of mucus in the intestines, it also causes the absorption of other good nutrients to slow down as well. Small amounts of casein are absorbed into the body through eating whole whole foods right.
Meat protein protein powder is another way I suggest you stay away from. The quality of the beef protein powder cut with external amino acids is not as beneficial as eating a good cut of beef or sticking to whey protein fed grass to get cleaner and healthier results.
What I want to get out of this video today is the importance of what you choose to put on your body – if you eat clean and source your nutrients the healthier way, you are more likely to get better and cleaner results. Be sure to also change what you are eating to avoid triggering unwanted antibody responses in the body that can result in a nutritional plateau.
I always want to hear what else you are wondering or confused with fitness and nutrition, so in the comments below let me know what topic we should shed some light on next.
