Sleep Deprivation Causing Suicide in Children


As a nation, we are owners of sleep deprivation. Let's be honest; We are famous for burning the candle at both ends and swallowing medicines to sleep like no other country in the world. We also have one of the highest rates of chronic diseases in the world. Maybe there is a correlation?

The CDC (Center for Disease Control) has just issued a report showing that our children suffer from chronic lack of sleep. More than 73% do not sleep enough. More than 20% of them get six hours or less. It sounds like the perfect workout for a dysfunctional adult.

The lack of sleep in children is associated with an increased risk of obesity, diabetes, depression, hypertension, drug and alcohol abuse, suicide, attention disorders and poor performance. In other words, they suffer from the same exact problems that most adults face. Read more on
