Selenium and Diabetes: More Bad News for Supplements

A VA study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine that was designed to determine whether a popular supplement would help reduce the risk of developing type II diabetes found otherwise. The authors found instead that people who took 200 micrograms of selenium supplements per day for almost eight years had an increased risk of developing the disease.
