For your health, body and spirit: researchers discover a new cure for type 1 diabetes (without insulin and without side effects)
The discovery, made at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center, increases the types of pancreatic cells that secrete insulin.
In type 1 diabetes, people theoretically should take daily insulin injections because their bodies do not produce insulin, and it is diagnosed more frequently in children and young adults. This represents less than 10 percent of all diabetes cases.
A study published in Diabetologia found a correlation between serum levels of vitamin D3 and the subsequent incidence of type 1 diabetes. They discovered that vitamin D deficiency may be associated with an increased risk of developing type 1 diabetes. The risk of diabetes requires Insulin was 3.5 times higher in people with the lowest concentrations of vitamin D compared to those with the highest.
