Good news for those of you with diabetes! A new device, made by Medtronic and approved by the FDA, can adjust your insulin levels for you. It is the size of a smartphone and connects to the insulin pump wirelessly. An algorithm tells the pump if it should provide more or less insulin. The device is not yet fully automatic since users have yet to adjust their levels before meals. There are still concerns that it may be too expensive or even dangerous for some users, but many are optimistic anyway. The device will be available in the spring of 2017 for those over 14 with type 1 diabetes.
