Introducing the MiniMed 530G with Enlite, the first step towards an artificial pancreas. The MiniMed 530G system has the Enlite CGM sensor and a new function called Threshold Suspend Automation. The Enlite sensor is Medtronic's most accurate and comfortable continuous glucose sensor with a 31 percent improvement in overall accuracy from the previous generation (1). Enlite measures glucose levels every 5 minutes and automatically communicates those levels to the insulin pump. Threshold Suspend Automation mimics some of the functions of a healthy pancreas and automatically stops insulin delivery when the sensor glucose values reach a preset threshold that can be set between 60-90 mg / dL and can help reduce episodes of hypoglycemia when the predictive and threshold alerts are activated in (2). In the event that the person with diabetes does not respond to the threshold suspension alarm to take action on their own. Having an integrated insulin pump and CGM in one device provides better protection against dangerous highs and lows (3) (4).

Important Safety Information
Diabetes insulin infusion pumps, continuous glucose monitoring systems and associated Medtronic components are limited to sale by a physician and should only be used under the direction of a health professional familiar with the associated risks with the use of these systems. MiniMed 530G with Enlite is designed for insulin delivery and continuous glucose monitoring for the management of diabetes mellitus by people 16 years of age or older who require insulin.
Pump therapy is not recommended for people who do not want or can not perform a minimum of four blood glucose tests per day. Insulin pumps use rapid-acting insulin. If your insulin administration is interrupted for any reason, you should be prepared to replace the insulin that you forgot immediately.
The information provided by the CGM systems is intended to complement, not replace, the blood glucose information obtained with a glucose meter in the home. A confirmatory digital puncture is required before making adjustments in diabetes therapy. MiniMed 530G with Enlite is not designed to be used directly to prevent or treat hypoglycemia, but to suspend the insulin supply when the user can not respond to the threshold Suspend alarm and take measures to prevent or treat hypoglycemia on their own. NOTE: The Threshold Suspend function will cause the pump to temporarily suspend insulin administration for two hours when the sensor glucose reaches a set threshold. Under certain conditions of use, the pump may be suspended again, resulting in a very limited supply of insulin. Prolonged suspension may increase the risk of severe hyperglycaemia, ketosis, and ketoacidosis. Before using the Threshold Suspend function, it is important to read the Threshold Suspend information in the MiniMed 530G` System User's Guide and discuss the proper use of the Threshold Suspend function with your healthcare provider.
