Elevation: 3950m to 4600m to 3950m, Distance: 12 km, Time: 6-7 hours, Habitat: Semi-desert. Today we will climb up to 4600 m to the base of Lava Tower for lunch and acclimatization. This will be our most difficult day so far and you may feel the altitude for the first time. After lunch, we will descend again for almost 650 m to the camp of Barranco, following the golden rule of acclimatization "walk high, sleep peacefully". Our descent to the Barranco camp lasts approximately 2 hours. The camp is located in a valley below the Great Breach Wall and Ravine.
My name is Dom Frost and my girlfriend Jen and I will return to Africa to climb Mount Kilimanjaro for Diabetes UK. We want to show others that these adventures are possible, show other types 1 how to do it, and raise £ 1,500 for charity to find a cure.
If you wish to donate, visit (All donations go directly to Diabetes UK).
