Currently in medicine, diabetes is not a curable disease. In type 1 diabetes, patients need lifelong insulin treatment to keep their blood sugar levels in a normal range to avoid complications. In type 2 diabetes, studies suggest that in the early stages of the disease can be reversed with a strict calorie diet. But once type 2 diabetes is well established, it can not be completely cured. Patients with type 2 diabetes should maintain their blood sugar levels within the normal range by maintaining a balanced diet, exercising regularly, and taking their medications regularly to avoid long-term complications.
