Type 2 diabetes can be prevented or delayed by making lifestyle changes that include weight loss and more physical activity. In this video, people with prediabetes talk about how the group lifestyle change classes offered as part of the CDC's National Diabetes Prevention Program helped them learn and maintain healthy habits. Lifestyle coaches, a physician and Ann Albright, PhD, RD, director of the Division of Diabetes Division of CDC, discuss how group lifestyle classes offer an effective way to prevent type 2 diabetes. Research studies have shown that these classes can reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes by nearly 60% in people at high risk of developing the disease.
