The rituals of the morning allow us to connect with ourselves for a while before the busy day really begins. They keep us down to earth, give us a certain perspective and set the tone for the whole day. These healthy habits are also essential for our emotional and psychological health both now and in the future.
Establishing today a beneficial routine tomorrow will help us stay the course throughout our lives, even when times get tough.
1. Get up early
Getting out of bed at dawn is seen as a key ingredient for success and health.
Research tells us that people in the morning are more successful, proactive and better able to deal with the problems of life, should not be surprised to discover that these early risers are also happier than night owls. Of course, getting enough sleep is vital to overall health, so it may be necessary to go to bed earlier than usual.
After getting up, take just 10 minutes to practice the ancient art of meditation.
Study after study now shows that meditation is an incredibly beneficial mental exercise that can lower blood pressure, relieve chronic pain, reduce anxiety, increase immunity, improve concentration and solve pregnancy problems. Many mindfulness teachers recommend that you meditate first thing in the morning since the mind is still relatively calm after leaving the dream state.
3. Outside of work
While you may not exactly jump out of bed enjoying the idea of a 6.30 career, many studies show that an early exercise routine is the best for success. Morning exercise not only increases your energy for the rest of the day and speeds up your metabolism, but research suggests that, in terms of performing a consistent exercise habit, people who break a sweat in the morning tend to improve.
4. Drink lemon water
This is an easy and refreshing habit that everyone should try. Upon awakening, squeeze the juice of half a lemon in a glass of warm water and drink. Lemon water offers some fantastic benefits: it increases digestion, increases iron absorption and benefits both the heart and the blood. In addition, it has been proven that drinking water increases the metabolism, just what you need when you wake up.
5. Choose coconut oil in your mouth
Used primarily in ancient Ayurvedic medicine, the practice of rinsing with a drink of oil for up to 10 minutes a day is said to be a fantastic habit of the morning to acquire. Known as extracting oil, it is believed to stimulate the immune system, increase energy levels and benefit the skin.
6. Eat breakfast
Study after study has shown that breakfast is undoubtedly the most important meal of the day; however, 31 million Americans are left without it.
There are so many reasons why this is a bad idea! Those who skip breakfast are more likely to be obese. They are also more likely to have type 2 diabetes, heart disease and less immunity to infections. A balanced breakfast is a great way to increase both energy levels and cognitive function, while helping to combat cravings for junk food throughout the day.
